Legado plans 4-acre Redondo development
Legado Companies is  planning to develop the 4-acre  Palos Verdes Inn and former Bristol Farms property at Pacific Coast Highway and Palos Verdes Drive in Redondo Beach. the company purchase the 1700 Pacific Coast Highway site  in 2006.  According to its web site, Legado hopes to build “up to 150 residences, 40,000 square feet of retail and 110 hotel rooms” on the four acre site.

The company’s web site also lists a proposal for 29 beach-front homes and 4,000 square feet of retail on a three acre site in Playa Del Rey and 292 residences and 45,000 square feet of retail at the corner of Admiralty Way and Palawan Way in Marina Del Rey.

Spyder to screen paddleboard legend Jamie Mitchell’s “Decade of Dominance?
Spyder Surf will screen legendary paddler Jamie Mitchell’s “Decade of Dominance” Thursday, August 9 at 8 p.m. at the Spyder store on Pier Avenue. The documentary recounts the legendary Australian lifeguard’s 10 consecutive victories in the 32-mile Molokai Channel Paddleboard Race. The screening coincides with Spyder’s Back to School, 25 to 50 percent off sale continues through Monday, August 13.

Skechers’ BOBS shoes promise “compassionate consumerism”
For every pair of BOBS shoes sold, Manhattan Beach-based Skechers will donate a pair of the shoes to an underprivileged child. The shoes with names such as Earth Mama, Earth Day and Helping Hand, range in style from slip-on Earth Mama, Earth Day and Helping Hand slip-ons to boat-style Topsides and athletic style lace up World Generous shoes.

BOBS are inspired by  “a movement that’s already donated more than a million pairs of shoes to children in the U.S. and 25 countries world wide, according to the Skecher website. What is being called “compassionate consumerism” began six years ago when Tom Shoes began donating a pair of shoes to an underprivileged child to every pair of shoes it sold.

Body Glove licenses wood-based Chammyz garments
Redondo Beach-based Body Glove has reached a distribution agreement with Chammyz, which manufactures sweatshirts, sweat pants and shorts from a lightweight, recyclable fleece that provides warmth in cold weather and UVA and UVB protection in warm weather.

The Redondo Beach Unified School District’s Board of Education Tuesday night voted unanimously to place a $63 million bond measure on the November ballot which would largely take RBUSD off the electrical grid by making every school solar-powered in addition to providing other new technologies inside classrooms.

Riviera Villages plans summer sidewalk sale
Riviera Village will hold its annual Village Summer Sidewalk Sale on Saturday and Sunday, August 25 and 25 on Catalina Avenue, Avenue I, Elena Avenue and in the Triangle center at Pacific Coast Highway and Palos Verdes Boulevard.

Hermosa sidewalk sale part music fest, part food and drink fest
The Second Annual Hermosa Beach Summer Sidewalk Sale and Dine Around Town will be part sale, part food fest and part music festival. The Chamber sponsored event will be held Saturday and Sunday August 11 and 12 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
