Spotlight on charity – Scriba Family Center

Peninsula Seniors hosted a private preview on Nov. 4 of their new center, named the Peninsula Seniors Scriba Family Center, next door to the Peninsula Library. It is “a dream realized” after years of planning, hundreds of generous donors and thousands of volunteer hours. Ann Shaw, president of Peninsula Seniors’ board of directors, explained how the non-profit had moved 17 times since their inception in 1983. “What seemed like a monumental task – to raise $2 million to acquire a new permanent facility – became a reality with the support of the community.” Melanie and Richard Lundquist, the Scriba family, Allen and Dorothy Lay and Virginia Cicoria were among the major donors who helped fund the project.
