Spotlight on Health – Celebrate Wellness “Community is Stronger Than Cancer”
The Cancer Support Community South Bay (CSC South Bay), hosted its 25th annual Celebrate Wellness food and beverage tasting event on July 10 at the South Coast Botanic Garden. More than 500 guests enjoyed sunshine and live music as they sampled fare from over 30 restaurants, wineries and breweries that participated in the late afternoon garden party. The event generated proceeds of more than $260,000, which will help fund 200 free support programs offered each month for cancer patients and their loved ones. An exciting addition to the event this year was the “Golden Ticket Lounge,” where for $100, guests could buy a ticket for a 1 in 100 chance to claim one of the live auction items offered at the event, valued up to $10,000. This year’s lucky winner walked away with a five day adventure vacation at a luxurious five-star ranch in Montana. Other items included a two-night stay at Chateau Robles in Paso Robles and a six-course chef’s dinner for 10 from The Strand House presented in the wine cellar.
