Spotlight on the hill – Portuguese Bend Soiree

Charles and Jean Shriver opened their 1931 Farmstead courtyard doors to welcome hundreds of annual Arty Party guests to sample wines and cheeses and to buy local art. A 30 year tradition of the family’s commitment to the neighborhood and to supporting artists. Amongst the many local artists there were the Portuguese Bend Art Colony members, Bob Mennig ceramicist, Don Christy author and Steve Shriver resident artist. Last minute holiday shoppers and art aficionados took solace in the well curated selections available, the opportunity to meet the artists themselves and to revel in the architectural and botanical beauty that surrounded the event. The home was originally designed by the notable architect Gordon Kaufmann for Frank Vanderlip’s attorney, E.D. Levinson.
