A woman was charged with attempted murder yesterday after allegedly stabbing her boyfriend with a steak knife in frustration when he turned the power off in their home, cutting off her access to the internet.
According to police reports, a domestic dispute erupted at about 2:15 p.m. Thursday afternoon on the 500 block of Cluster Lane. The man, whose name was not released because he is the victim in suspected domestic violence, had turned off the power to the home when his enraged girlfriend confronted him with a knife.
“According to witnesses and the victim, she tried to stab him several times, and he was able to block the attempts, but he did sustain a cut to his face,” said Sgt. Shawn Freeman of the Redondo Beach Police Department.
“She was able to slash his face with the knife, and then the victim ran out of the house,” said RBPD Sgt. Phil Keenan. “…Evidently, the victim turned off the power to the house to do work on the house, and the suspect was angry about losing her internet access. We believe that is what the fight was about.”
The man was able to escape the house relatively unscathed and roommates called 911. He was treated on the scene by paramedics. After investigating the incident, police charged the woman with attempted murder.
“She was really doing everything she could to stab the victim, so we charged her with attempted murder,” Keenan said.
Police arrested Carla Bradford, 40. She was incarcerated at the L.A. County jail for what police described as “personal medical reasons.”
