Stabbing wounds appear self-inflicted, police say of man who died in Hermosa Beach

Jared Minjares, 24, died Monday night, December 18, in Hermosa Beach from what police believe were multiple, self-inflicted stab wounds to the chest, Acting Hermosa Beach Police Captain Mick Gaglia told Easy Reader Tuesday evening.

At approximately 6 p.m. Monday, police were dispatched to the Galleria apartments in the 400 block of Second Street, after receiving calls of a woman screaming there.

Minjares, another man, and two women, were found in one of the apartments. Narcotics were also found.

“They all knew each other,” Gaglia said. “There was some kind of argument. Ultimately, we believe, the subject used a knife on himself.”

A knife believed to have been used in the stabbing was found at the scene, he added.

“The investigation is on-going and the cause of death will be determined by the Los Angeles County Coroner’s office,” Gaglia said.

No arrests were made. But the other man at the location was taken to the hospital for reasons Gaglia declined to disclose.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact HBPD Detective Dalton Blumenfeld at (310) 318-0360 or at dblumenfeld@hermosabeach.gov. ER
