SEA Lab

SEA (Science Education Adventure) Lab on Harbor Drive in King Harbor is recognizable by its bright, block long, aquatic mural of fish and sharks swimming through a turquoise sea.
The hands-on SeaLab aquarium is been run by the LA Conservation Corps and offers two summer camps for kids. The Mini Mariners for ages four to six, is a half-day program that takes place mostly at the aquarium with visits to the beach. Then there’s the Ocean Explorers, a full day for kids ages seven to 11. The big kids go kayaking and tidepool exploring. Both camps are one week long. The registration deadline is June 15.
Public tours of the SEALab aquariums and hatcheries are available Tuesdays, Saturdays and Sundays and by appointment. Fish feedings every saturday at noon.

Worlds Ocean Day run at the Roundhouse Aquarium

The Roundhouse Aquarium at the end of the Manhattan Beach Pier is open year-round, but some of its activities are unique to summer. This year will mark the third annual Fun Run, on Saturday, June 6 at 9:30 a.m. Afterward, runners will celebrate World Oceans Day at the aquarium with games and a raffle. The $35 fee includes a T-shirt (through May 20) and refreshments.
From July 6 through Aug. 21, the aquarium hosts a summer camp for kids ages four to 10. Campers can enroll for one to seven weeks. Activities vary each week and include digging for sand crabs, playing in the waves, dissecting squid, learning about sharks, water fights, fishing, sand sculpture, coke explosions, crafts, building a recycled boat, experiments, touching live animals, shooting a lemon cannon and beach games.
