[Surf contest story]
Small surf, high tide, on shore wind — nothing was right for the 50th Anniversary International Surf Festival surf contest at the Hermosa Beach pier on Saturday, July 30. But that didn’t stop tournament director John Joseph from proving the saying that bad surf is still better than anything else. The South Bay’s top surfers even managed to make it look decent, and definitely fun. Photos
