By Alyssa and Liana, Beryl Heights students
Beryl Heights is cool since we walk to school! On Wednesdays, about 40 kids walk to school on the Walking School Bus. We started the Walking School Bus with one route on Carnelian Avenue last January. We start at the Main Redondo Public Library and walk up the hill to Beryl. It takes us about 20 minutes, and it is 0.8 miles. We started a new route this October from the Redondo High School to Beryl.
Our favorite thing about “the bus” is that it wakes you up in the morning and gets you ready for your day at school! We have made new friends while walking to school and have gotten to know others better. Since many parents love coming to our Town Meetings (where we hear the school’s announcements) in the morning, we don’t have to drive in circles looking for a parking space! Anyone is welcome to join us on our “adventure” to school! Get on the bus, the Walking School Bus!
