The Main Event
Cirque by the Sea
The Peninsula Education Foundation 30th Annual Main Event toke place again at beautiful Terranea Resort, Rancho Palos Verdes this past May. Guests were greeted at the entrance by acrobats leading to the terrace for cocktails and silent auction bidding. Following an elegant dinner served in the ballroom, the program began with the traditional roll call of all the schools leading into the competitive bidding for fantastic live auction items and ended with dancing and entertainment at Club Cirque. This yearly fundraiser is the largest, most successful, single event fundraiser on the Palos Verdes Peninsula attended by 800 guests. The PEF has pledged to raise $2.7 million for the 2011-12 school year. PEF sold more tickets for this year’s Lexus car raffle than in any year past with a total of $71,000. Toyota Motor Sales, USA, Inc. donated a Lexus GS 450 Hybrid to the Peninsula Education Foundation’s Main Event fundraiser. Toyota has been a generous supporter of PEF and PVP schools for many years. During the Main Event, a car ticket winner was drawn by Michael Rouse, Vice President of Philanthropy and Community Affairs. The evening raised over $350,000 for PVPUSD schools at this year’s Main Event. Photos by Mary Jane Schoenheider
