The U.S. Lifesaving Association National Lifeguard Championships return to Hermosa

The U.S. Lifesaving Association National Lifeguard Championships returns to the West Coast this summer, for the first time since 2016, As in 2016, the championships will be held in Hermosa Beach. The competition will take place Thursday, Aug. 11 through Saturday, Aug. 13, starting each day at 8 a.m. Junior Lifeguard competition will take place Wednesday, Aug. 10.

The championships will include Junior Lifeguard competition. Events will include ocean swimming, beach runs, paddleboarding, dory boats and Ironman and Ironwoman.

The first National Lifeguard Competition was held in San Diego in August of 1980. There are now more than 100 chapters of USLA.
