Top Four Gambling Cities in the USA

Gambling has a rich history in America, from smoky poker games in wild West saloons to the modern casino and all of its bright lights. We look at four of the best cities for gambling in the USA today and break down why gambling fans should visit these locations in their travels.

Chicago, Illinois

Chicago may be better known for its deep-dish pizza, cold winters, and jazz music, but it is also a fantastic gambling location.

The state of Illinois has ten land-based casinos with just short of 10,000 slot machines spread out across these locations. Many of these casinos are within Chicago city itself, making it an excellent gambling city to visit. Check out the Majestic Star Casino in Chicago with its six floors of slot machines, overlooking the beautiful blue of Lake Michigan, where the state on the other side is also developing its gambling opportunities. Nearby the lake of Michigan sits the Ameristar Casino Hotel East Chicago, another scenic gambling destination away from the bustle of the city center.

Unique to Chicago is the fact that all of its casinos sit in the broader metropolitan area of the city, rather than in the downtown zone. While this makes them more peaceful, it does limit the ability to casino-hop on a night out.

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

While Pennsylvania only has six land-based casinos in the entire state, yet these boast a whopping 25,849 slot machines between them.

This is in large part due to the enormous Harrah’s Philadelphia, which has an impressive array of thousands of slot machines and dozens of live game tables. Add to this the great horse race betting opportunities, given that the track is right outside the casino, and the beautiful view over the riverfront, and this is an excellent gambling location.

Philadelphia boasts several other casinos as well, including the downtown SugarHouse Casino which regularly hosts live music and other entertainment.

Atlantic City, New Jersey

The New Jersey gambling market has been booming in recent times, thanks to the state’s increase in online gambling licenses which led to a $445.7 million in gambling revenue for October 2022.

This is not only due to the many land-based casinos that are located in the state, but also because of the wide range of online options that are offered. At https://www.njcasino.com/ you can compare these available, and check out reviews and games for each of them, just so you make sure that you choose the right one. Besides the many online options, there’s one gambling destination in the state that needs no introduction: Atlantic City. This gambling mecca has long been the second-best gambling city in America after Las Vegas, for good reason.

It has several excellent land-based casinos, scattered amidst beautiful beaches and resorts that give the city an irresistible holiday vibe. The best amongst these is the Tropicana Atlantic City, which is situated right on the beachfront.

Las Vegas, Nevada

Last but not least, the crown for America’s greatest gambling city goes to none other than Las Vegas, the original Sin City.

While other cities are developing their gambling offer and beginning to offer alternatives to Las Vegas, there’s nothing like the real deal. Nevada has 215 land-based casinos with 141,636 slot machines between them, the lion’s share of which are situated right on the infamous Las Vegas strip. The bright lights of this never-ending string of casinos, hotels, and entertainment clubs are a mesmerizing sight and are what earn Las Vegas a place at the top of this list.
