R10, Barneys

Two new eateries have opened on the Redondo waterfront. R10 Social House, located on N. Harbor Dr. and named for the deep channel buoy off Redondo Beach, is establishing a reputation for itself with its fresh fare and craft cocktails. L.A. sports bar franchise Barney’s Beanery has opened a branch at Redondo Landing on the pier, and is serving up comfort food and more than 85 craft beers.

Tree pick-up

Christmas trees will be picked up on normal trash collection days through Jan. 17. Trees can be left next to bins.

No gym fees

If your New Year’s resolution was to get fit, Spectrum Athletic Club in Redondo Beach is waiving all enrollment fees and offering $100 in personal training credits during the month of January.

Filmmaking course

An introduction to filmmaking course will be held on Monday nights beginning Jan. 13 at Redondo Union High’s Room 805.

Led by Shaun O’Banion, a Gotham Award winner, the class encompasses all principles and processes of filmmaking – the creation of a screenplay, preparation, production, post-production, festival appearances, and a film’s release. To sign up, call South Bay Adult School at (310) 937-3340.
