Vintage Surfboard Swap Meet at Dive n’ Surf
On Saturday, September 13th from 7am-2pm as a part of Dive N’ Surf’s Surf/SUP Demo Days, the Longboard Collector’s Club will host a Vintage Surfboard Swap Meet.
“It’s an opportunity to browse, sell, or swap classic surfboards,” Saul Zaragoza of Dive n’ Surf said. “With Dive N’s Surf on 504 North Broadway being the world’s oldest and continually ran Surf/Dive shop in the world and Body Glove inventing the wetsuit, our location is ideal .”
The event will also celebrate the legendary Hap Jacobs as he will be making an appearance. Last Thursday Jacob’s former team riders honored him at a dinner at Captain Kidd’s. Attendees included legendary ‘60s era surfers Lance Carson, Rick Irons, Mike Purpus and Paul Strauch
“Jacobs Surfboards and old his shop on 422 PCH is a part of the collective that made Hermosa Beach a miracle mile of surf shops,” said local Davenport Surfboards Star and 60s enthusiast Shawn O’Brien. “Greg Noll Surfboards, Rick Surfboards, Dewey Weber Surfboards, and Bing Surfboards as well as the history up to now make the South Bay a Surf Industry Mecca.”
Besides the swap meet, the Longboard Collector’s Club will be hosting a woody car show in the parking lot..
“It’s great that Dive n’ Surf as well as the Longboard Collector’s Club has stepped up an event that I hope becomes a frequent thing,” O’Brien said. “It’s time to give back to our heritage.”
Dive n’ Surf will also be hosting a Surf/SUP demo Day with booths of Surfboards, SUPs, wetsuits, and accessories. Toro Longboards, Focus SUPs, Stewart Surfboards, Chris Ruddy Surfboards, Roberts Surfboards, and Rusty Surfboards are scheduled to attend.
“Come check out some of the different brands we carry at Dive N’ Surf,” Zaragoza said. “If you haven’t checked out our remodel, this is the perfect opportunity.”
Free Coffee courtesy of Pete’s Coffee will be served as supplies last.
