Manhattan Beach police arrested two suspects Wednesday morning after they allegedly stole merchandise from a store in Manhattan Village, according to police.

MBPD received a call at 10:30 a.m. about two men seen climbing a fence between the Manhattan Village Mall and the Manhattan Village gated community, MBPD Public Information Officer Stephanie Martin said. When officers detained the suspects, they both fled through the parking lot. Police captured one of them “right away” while the other ran eastbound through the golf course, Martin said.

MBPD set up a perimeter with assistance from surrounding agencies, and after about 45 minutes, the suspect was found hiding on the metro platform on Marine Avenue and Redondo Avenue, she said.

Martin said the suspects stole clothing among other items from the Macy’s Men’s Store, but no information was readily available on the valuation of the theft.

The two suspects were booked and charged with commercial burglary, she said.
