Cell phone assault
A 17-year-old boy assaulted his father in North Hermosa last Sunday morning after the two got into a dispute over the amount of time the boy spent on his cell phone.
The two began fighting about 10 a.m. at a residence in the 400 block of 29th Street, near Morningside Drive, police said. The father sustained minor injuries.
No charges are currently being sought in the case.
Lover’s quarrel and robbery
A dispute over a girl escalated into a battery and robbery early last Saturday morning in downtown Hermosa,
The victim was standing on Pier Plaza about 1:30 a.m. when he saw his friend in an argument with another man, police said. The two were apparently arguing over a girl.
The victim approached the two men, attempting to help his friend, and the suspect punched the victim in the face. The suspect took the victim’s backpack and fled in an unknown direction, police said. The backpack’s contents were estimated to be worth about $500.
