“The whole concept of Smackfest is for people to come together and have fun while celebrating the beach lifestyle,” Smackfest director Bill Sigler said of the beach volleyball tournament he founded 24 years ago to promote his Smack Apparel company. Last month’s Smackfest, at 10th Street in Hermosa Beach, attracted over 1,000, colorfully costumed, colorfully named coed-4 team players. Popular teams included Running of the Bulls, Endless Hermosa and 50 Shades of Hermosa Beach.
