Hermosa Beach About Town

Greenbelt infiltration project

The City of Hermosa Beach will host a site tour and public meeting for a stormwater infiltration project proposed to go under a segment of the Greenbelt in South Hermosa. On Thursday at 6:30 p.m., city officials and project consultants will gather at the intersection of Second Street and Valley Drive to give a tour of the proposed site. Then, about 7 p.m., the meeting will move to South Park classroom 4, at the west end of the park.

The project is intended to help Hermosa and other South Bay cities comply with the federal Clean Water Act by reducing the flow of stormwater to area beaches. In previous discussions of the plan, residents living nearby, including those at the Moorings townhomes adjacent to the proposed project, have raised questions about quality-of-life impacts associated with the project’s construction and location.

For questions about the project or the meeting, contact Kristy Morris, an environmental analyst with the city, at kmorris@hermosabch.org.
