The David Sliff Memorial Foundation was named winner of the annual Hermosa Beach Friends Foundation “Quick Pitch” competition last Wednesday at the Lighthouse Care.
The Friends Foundation was founded by Karen and Ryan Nowicki in 2016 to support local charities. Karen has served as Hermosa Beach’s City treasurer since being elected in 2013. Ryan is an attorney, and was named Hermosa’s Man of the Year in 2017.
The Sliff Foundation raises funds for college scholarships and the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. It was founded in memory of Hermosa Beach resident David Sliff, who took his own life in 2017, at age 23.
