The St. Lawrence Martyr School Mock Trial team competed in the State playoffs and won a difficult round against Holy Family School of Pasadena on Tuesday. The students are competing as lawyers and witnesses in a pretend hit-and-run case at the L.A County Superior Courthouse, school administrator Kathleen Padian said in an email. Out of 53 schools, the local team is now in the top eight and will be advancing to the quarterfinals on Wednesday.
They will be competing at the downtown L.A. courthouse located near Olive Street and First Street at 5 p.m. today. During the competition, schools remain anonymous– but the local team can be identified as ‘School 228’ in courtroom listings, the press release said.
