El Segundo hosts USA-Japan baseball tournament

Beach City Baseball Academy in El Segundo will be hosting the Kitasuna team from Japan for the 2nd annual Japan-Los Angeles 12 and Under baseball tournament to be held Friday and Saturday .

Up to 10 Southern California teams will compete in the tournament which is designed to provide local children with an opportunity to gain global experience by meeting and competing with a dynamic coaching organization and disciplined team that brings a very unique perspective to training, fitness and team work.

“Sports are an incredible way to bring people and communities together and team activities have been continuously proven to help children build confidence and improve social skills,” said Richard Murad, Founder of Beach City Baseball Academy. “Two years ago, we were able to support this Academy after the devastating earthquake in Japan by hosting the families and players in Los Angeles. We are thrilled to be able to continue this support through this sponsorship and are excited to give another group of 18 children the opportunity to come to LA; an experience that we hope will change their lives while uniting the global community. We are also grateful to those Members of Beach City Baseball Academy who are extending a hand to the Tokyo Kitasuna team by opening their homes to the players and staff of Kitasuna.”

Beach City Baseball Academy helped sponsor Tokyo Kitasuna’s participation in the 2012 Little League World Series in Williamsport, PA which resulted in a World Championship for Kitasuna’s 2012 team. Through this year-round sponsorship, Beach City Baseball sends funds and equipment to support the Japanese Academy. This year’s 2013 team, which consists of a new group of dynamic players, is also very strong and hopes to participate in the 2013 Little League World Series.

The Kitasuna Club Organization is home to many strong teams and has a long standing tradition of championship victories and has proven to enhance the experience at the Little League World Series through fierce competition and admirable sportsmanship where they have a history of success with three trips, two of which included wins, to the World Series in the last 10 years.
