Hermosa Beach’s summer season traditionally both kicks-off and ends with the community celebration Fiesta Hermosa. In its 41st year, this season’s three-day Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends will be more locally focused, with more local bands, booths and an area set up for non-profits.
“Each weekend brings in over 150,000 people to our city,” Matt Bennett, the Hermosa Beach Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Bureau Communications and Special Event director said. “The best part of the weekend is it’s different for everybody. Some people like the music, others like the arts and crafts or games, other people love the beer gardens.”
For Bennett, the most exciting part of the events is the buzz in the air that the fiestas create.
“It’s a way to promote the area,” Bennett said. “Most people probably can’t remember when there wasn’t a fiesta.”
This year will feature a new section called “Hermosa Village” to showcase local non profits. It will be a home-town area where they can have bake-sales, games and a place to show what locals do to help their community.
