Lost and Found

This male Chihuahua/Terrier mix was found at the intersection of 12th Street and Highland Avenue in Manhattan Beach during the city’s Fourth of July celebration. He had been injured by a vehicle before Manhattan Beach Police picked him up and transferred him to the Animal Emergency Referral Center in Torrance, where he awaits being found by his owner or adopted into a new home.

Summer Stroll

North Manhattan Beach hosts its annual Summer Stroll on Thursday, July 29. Merchants on Highland Avenue between 34th and 38th streets will offer sales, discounts, raffles and door prizes. Live music and refreshments will also be provided.

Out to the Ball Game
Former Manhattan Beach Pony League All-Star Willy Siegel-Leventhal talked sports at a June 27 book signing hosted by Pages: A Bookstore.

Leventhal signed copies of his book, Brothers, Bats and Balls…and Other Life Lessons in Sports, which Pages sold for $10 each to raise funds for the MLB Reviving Baseball in the Inner Cities Program.

Watchin’ the Hood

The Manhattan Beach Police Department and Neighborhood Watch will host a volunteer recruitment meeting at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, July 20th in the MBPD Community Room, located at 420 Fifteenth St.

Area coordinators, block captains and residents who live within Neighborhood Watch areas three and nine are invited to participate.
