Bo Bridges show benefits schools

The Bo Bridges Gallery celebrates its second anniversary in downtown Manhattan Beach with a limited edition release party on July 23 and 24 from 7 to 10 p.m. MB Post chef David LeFevre will prepare the fare and drinks will be provided by Strand Brewing Co., Southern Wine and Spirits, Zico, and Absolut Elyx vodka. Donations of $250 to $500 for each limited edition purchase will be made to the purchaser’s schools of choice. $10 admission donation for local schools. Valet and street parking available. MBRA meeting

The Manhattan Beach Residents Association is hosting a discussion on the school board’s proposed plans for Polliwog Park on July 28 at the Manhattan Beach library from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Julie Profet, the chair of the Friends of Polliwog Park, is scheduled to talk. Author talk at {pages}

Writer Barbara Straus Lodge and editor Samantha Waltz will read excerpts and sign copies of their book Blended – Writers on the Stepfamily Experience at {pages} on July 23 at 7 p.m.

Kinecta 75th anniversary

Kinecta Federal Credit Union celebrated its 75th anniversary with a free public celebration on July 11. More than 500 Kinecta members and the local community joined the festivities, which included BBQ lunch, chili-tasting, family entertainment, raffle prizes and giveaways.

Special guests included U.S. Representative Ted Lieu (33rd District); State Assemblyman David Hadley (South Bay, District 66) and Manhattan Beach Mayor Mark Burton.

During the event, Kinecta raised more than $1,800 to benefit the 2015 Special Olympics World Games by collecting donations of 75 cents for food and $1 for raffle tickets. Kinecta will match this amount for a total donation of $3,600.

Beach closures due to lighting forced the cancellation of the organization’s annual Day at the Beach on July 18. A new date will be announced. ER
