Excellence in financial reporting

The city of Redondo Beach has been awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) for its comprehensive annual financial report.

The certificate is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting. The report was judged by a panel to meet high standards and demonstrate a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to communicate its financial story. The GFOA is a nonprofit association serving 17,500 government finance professionals with offices in Chicago and Washington, D.C.

Rummage sale

A rummage sale will be held Saturday, Aug. 24, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, located at 301 Ave. D.

Fundraising dinner

The Knights of Columbus will be hosting their monthly fund raising dinner Friday, Aug. 16 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus Hall located at 214 Ave. I. For adults, the cost is $10 per person, and for children, $5. All proceeds go to charity. For more information, call Nick Tesi at (310) 717-2937.

Kids support group

Kids ages 5-12 who have a close friend or family member with cancer can attend a support group on Wednesday, Aug. 21, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at 109 W. Torrance Blvd. Advance registration is required. For more information, call (310) 376-3550 or visit www.cancersupportredondobeach.org.
