Parent & Me, SC Botanic Garden

A hands-on adventure where kids and their grown-ups discover the magic of pollination. Each child will receive materials to explore nature up close, record their observations, and draw what they see. Sports luncheon: MCHS Coach Marx, PV Coach Hughes

Former Mira Costa High basketball coach Glenn Marx and Palos Verdes High softball coach Ashley Hughes will be the South Bay Athletic Club luncheon speakers. Marx, who has experience coaching in Germany, will compare the approach of high school and travel ball in the U.S. to European youth level basketball. The SBAC meets at the H.T. Grill, 1701 S. Catalina Ave., Redondo Beach. The weekly meeting, which starts at noon, is open to the public. Reservations are not necessary. The cost of lunch is $30.

YOU ARE ENOUGH 5K, Hermosa Beach

The Third Annual You Are Enough Run/Walk 5K is a mental health and wellness event that brings people together from all over to help one another feel worthy, seen, and supported. The run is a 3.1 mile course on The Strand between the two beach city piers, Hermosa and Manhattan. Live DJ, food and beverages, awesome grab bags and a lot of smiles and hugs. We will also have pre-event wellness sessions in the South Bay where you can learn how to care that much more for your well-being. 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. Schumacher Plaza, Hermosa Beach. Inaugural Artists exhibition

Fair & Fun Run

Celebrating mental health advocacy. Community Helpline, the LA-based crisis support hotline operating toll-free nationwide since 1971, will host its first community Fair & Fun Run in observance of Mental Health Awareness Month. 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Palos Verdes Peninsula High School track, 27118 Silver Spur Road, Rolling Hills Estates. The first 200 to register will receive a free event T-shirt. Admission is free and tax-deductible donations are encouraged through their website at pay.chelpline.org/7f3b9cd0-e52e-4071-b82c-74e. This event encourages the community to disconnect from technology and enjoy some sunshine, games, music, fun, food and reconnection. 

Hazardous waste & document shredding

Bicycle Block Party, Redondo Beach

Upway is teaming up with community nonprofits and local organizations to promote safe e-Bike ridership and bicycle infrastructure in the South Bay. The event will feature e-Bike test rides, community tabling, and tours of Upway and the Redondo Beach Metro station. The event will conclude with a community bike ride, so be sure to bring your bike. SOAR, South Coast Botanic Garden

Through Tuesday, September 30. SOAR features hundreds of tropical butterflies not normally found in Southern California. Your journey begins as you step into the Host and Nectar Garden and wander through beautiful plant species that are part of a butterfly’s habitat. Next, you’ll stop by our Emergence Chamber where you may just see a butterfly emerge from its pupa. Summer on the beach

Beach Cities Summer free fitness with yoga on the beach. 6:30 -7:30 p.m. Adjacent to Scotty’s Restaurant on the Hermosa Beach Strand.
