Team Silvera eked out a 45-42 triple-overtime victory over Team Wymbs to capture the Manhattan Beach Youth Basketball League’s boys 6th grade championship. Triathlon

The 6th annual Redondo Beach Triathlon presented by TC Tri Productions begins at 7:30 a.m. Sunday, June 13 at the Veteran’s Park/Marina area in Redondo Beach. All of the proceeds go to Cheer for Children, a nonprofit organization that gives seasonal parties and raises money for acutely ill children at Harbor UCLA Medical Center. The USAT sanctioned scenic course event consists of a 1/2-mile swim, 6-mile bike, and 2-mile run. Space is limited to the first 600 entries. A non-competitive recreational wave (half the distances) is open to 50 entrants. Awards will be given to the top three finishers in each division and the top two relay teams. Aquatics

The 4th annual Akolu Downwind paddleboard event begins at 4 p.m. Saturday at Abalone Cove. Suggested donation of $25 includes T-shirt, food and drinks. Volleyball

Volleyball Ventures hosts a coed doubles tournament Saturday, June 12 beginning at 8:30 a.m. at the Manhattan Beach Pier. The event includes four levels of play (beginner to advanced) and is played in a round-robin format. Players can sign-up individually, rotating players from their pool for each match. AdventurePlex, 1701 Marine St. in Manhattan Beach, is hosting Open Ropes on Saturdays from noon-3 p.m. for kids and adults ages 8 and up. Participants will bond while solving problems and overcoming obstacles. Groups of seven start every hour and will take approximately 45 minutes to complete the course. Basketball

HAX Summer Basketball Camps are open to boys and girls ages 6-14. Sessions run from 9 a.m.-4 p.m., Mon.-Fri. beginning June 28. Four week-long sessions are available. Campers will be taught basic techniques and skills essential to basketball, including offensive and defensive skills, games and team play. Price is $249 per session (lunch available for $5/day). Dave Miller, former NBA/NCAA basketball coach, will host his MVP Summer Basketball Camps July 12-16 and Aug. 2-6. Open to boys and girls ages 5-14, each camp runs from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. daily in the state of art NBA training facility at the Spectrum Athletic Club South Bay. The camp focuses on fundamentals including offensive and defensive drills, sportsmanship and positive values that produce life skills on and off the court.
