Fundraisers: On Tuesday, Sept. 13 Mama D’s, 1031 Hermosa Ave. in Hermosa Beach, will donate 20% of all money spent to the Mira Costa girls volleyball program.

The Redondo Union High School Alumni Association will hold its 2nd annual Homecoming Celebration Friday, Oct. 14 beginning at 5 p.m. prior to the Redondo-Peninsula football game. Tickets are $25 ($15 for children/students 18 and under) and include admission to the game, El Gringo Buffet pre-game dinner, a collector Alumni drink holder and Alumni Association window decal. In conjunction with a car wash, the Mira Costa Football and Cheer programs will be partnering with All Green Electronics Recycling to a host an E-waste collection from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 17 at the MBUSD District Offices, 325 S. All active and retired U.S. Military are offered free unlimited classes with no obligation to join at South Bay Jiu Jitsu, 325 Pacific Coast Hwy. in Hermosa Beach, during the month of October. Classes include Boot Camp Conditioning, Cardio MMA, Jeet Kune Do/Kickboxing, Boxing, Grappling/Submission Wrestling, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and American Jiu Jitsu. An anonymous Manhattan Beach resident has pledged to donate $100 to South Bay Jiu Jitsu for every U.S. Military person who signs up for classes in October. Cycling: Aspiring racers are invited to join the South Bay Wheelmen cycling club which is holding the Dave Richardson Series consisting of 11 races in three months that are a mix of criteriums, road races, and time trials. Racers are divided into A and B categories, depending on experience. Men and women race together but are scored separately as are age-graded categories. Co-Ed Flag Football on the Beach begins Sept. 21 with a combined two-night league on Wednesdays and Thursdays highlighted by a grand finale year-end tournament on Saturday, Oct. 22. Played at 19th Street and The Strand in Hermosa Beach, games are played with two 20 minute halves, alternating guy and girl quarterbacks. Running: Featuring individual and family teams, the 34th running of the Manhattan Beach 10K will take place Saturday, Oct. 1 with profits benefitting local schools, fitness-related recreation projects and college scholarships. The 9th Annual Jayo Celebrity Pro Am 12 team, 6-on-6 tournament will be held Saturday, Sept. 24 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Dockweiler Beach. Basketball: Celebrating its 31st year, the Hermosa Beach Youth Basketball League will be holding sign-ups on Saturdays and Sundays, Sept. 17-18 and 24-25 from 2-5:30 p.m. in Room 7 at the Community Center, 710 Pier Ave. in Hermosa Beach. The league, which begins in January, is open to boys and girls in Kindergarten through 10th grade. Fees are $115 (first player), $110 (second player) and $90 (third player). Add $10 after Oct. 14.
