Beach education – Redondo Ed Foundation Spring Gala at Portofino

A rowdy room of revelers at the Redondo Beach Educational Foundation’s May 4 Spring Gala wasn’t easily cowed by organizers, looking to calm things down before the night’s Live Auction kicked off. But Redondo Beach Unified School District Superintendent Steven Keller got the room’s attention – and laughter – by reminding everyone in that he “can lower your kids’ grades.”

“This night is a celebration, and a thank you to our staff and faculty,” Keller said, once the crowd quieted down. “The number one reason why RBUSD is the number one district in the South Bay is because of the people who serve your kids.”

The gala earned $135,000 for RBEF, which will go to support grants for RBUSD teachers and their programs, and scholarships for students.
