If a film producer was looking for a local place that looks like a classic steakhouse, the Bull Pen would be their first choice. This is the kind of establishment others try to mimic, one that looks a lot like their original location, which opened in the 1940’s. Perhaps the Bull Pen hasn’t noticed what year it is, or even what century because their prices are somewhat behind the times. There are five steaks under $30, and their renowned prime rib is under $20. It’s a bargain for a full meal that includes soup or salad and all the trimmings and a great reason to head for the steakhouse on the curve where PCH turns inland. — RF
