A camp that includes feeding sharks, along with dissecting squid, digging for sand crabs and water fights may not appeal to everyone. But it does to kids raised at the beach, judging from the popularity of the Manhattan Beach Pier Roundhouse Aquarium. Kicking off the aquarium’s activity-filled summer is the Roundhouse Fun Run for the Oceans, a 5K family beach run/walk celebrating World Oceans Day on June 9. The race starts at the pier at 9:30 a.m. Register at roundhouseaquarium.org. $35 per person. Proceeds go toward the Roundhouse educational programs.

The shark feedings are Saturdays at noon, sea story time is Sundays at 11:30 a.m. and volunteer training sessions are held once a month. The Roundhouse summer camps are for kids ages 4 to 10. The six week-long sessions begin July 8. $200 per session with discounts available for multiple sessions. Snacks and T-shirts are provided. Register at roundhouseaquarium.org.
