Mira Costa’s girls tennis team earned the third seed in the CIF-SS Division 1 playoffs after finishing second in the Bay League to top-seeded Peninsula.
First round action begins Wednesday, Nov. 4 with Mira Costa (12-3) hosting Foothill (14-4). All matches with the exception of the finals begin at 2 p.m. If the Musrtangs excape the first round, they will play the San Marcos-Santa Margarita winner in the second round on Friday. Quarterfinals will be held Monday, Nov. 9; semifinals on Wednesday, Nov. 11; and finals at the Claremont Club at 10 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 13.
Mira Costa is led by singles players Amy Gaal, Isabelle Lau, Isabella Draskovic, Morgan Kelley and Maya Serota along with doubles teams of Madi Giese-Jackie Soliman, Lindsay Giese-Lena Nagy and Katarina Draskovic-Drew Waller.
With a first-round win, Peninsula (14-1) will face the Villa Park-Calabasas winner in the second round. Redondo (13-6) finished third in the Bay League and playes at Marmonte League champion Oaks Christian (16-4) on Wednesday with the winner likely facing second-seeded Corona del Mar on Friday.
Pioneer League champion South Torrance (13-2) earned the top seed in Division 4 and hosts the Bishop Amat-Schurr wild-card winner in Wednesday’s first-round action.
West Torrance (9-6) earned the third seed in Division 4 and hosts Immaculate Heart (12-2) Wednesday. Bishop Montgomrery (12-2) is ranked seventh and hosts the Mark Keppel-Highland wild-card winner in the first round. Torrance (9-5) earned a wild-card berth and hosted Chaminade with the winner playing at La Serna (15-1) on Wednesday.
In Division 3, Chadwick is ranked No. 8 and will host Lynwood on Wednesday with the winner facing the Lakewood-Cerritos winner on Friday.
