Myra Maravilla has been named city clerk for Hermosa Beach, replacing Eddie Sarmiento, who took a job as Huntington Park’s city clerk in November. Maravilla most recently was a clerk specialist in Long Beach. She takes office this week, City Manager Suja Lowenthal said in a press release on Tuesday. Her starting salary is $110,052.

In Long Beach, Maravilla was involved in elections, petitions, redistricting efforts, records and voter engagement activities, according to the Hermosa press release. She also was the department’s communications liaison and supported the centralized COVID-19 emergency response team.

Lowenthal said Maravilla’s experience in the Long Beach office and “her wide range of public service made her uniquely qualified for the position.”

Maravilla holds a master’s degree in Public Administration from California State University, Fullerton. She also has a Certified Municipal Clerk designation from the International Institute of Municipal Clerks and other certifications. ER
