Hermosa Beach Police Beat: Suspected burglars nabbed, serial fraudster discovered

Suspected burglars nabbed

Two suspects were arrested last month after a neighbor observed them in the midst of a residential burglary.

About 10:30 a.m. on June 23, a resident in the 2200 block of Hermosa Avenue heard a noise and witnessed someone break a window to enter the neighboring home, police said.  Another person appeared to be standing lookout out front.

The neighbor contacted police and confronted the person standing out front, and both suspects fled the scene, police said. A traffic officer then spotted a vehicle with two suspects matching a description provided by the neighbor.

The officer conducted a traffic stop and after the suspects were identified, arrested them and booked them on suspicion of burglary.

Serial fraudster discovered

A suspect was arrested and found in possession of 33 fraudulent credit cards after attempting to obtain a cash advance at a downtown Hermosa Bank.

The suspect went into the bank about noon on June 23 and sought a cash advance on a credit card that tellers determined was fraudulent, and the suspect was arrested, police said. A subsequent search of a vehicle linked to the suspect revealed the additional fraudulent cards, as well as a credit card reading machine.
