A man is in intensive care after surviving a stabbing on a Beach Cities Transit bus on Monday night. The stabbing suspect is in custody following a search of the neighborhoods near the South Bay Galleria.

According to Redondo Beach Police, Richard John Reynierse and another man were on a Beach Cities Transit bus near the intersection of Kingsdale Avenue and Artesia Boulevard, when Reynierse allegedly stabbed the other man for unknown reasons. Reynierse then fled the scene.

Reynierse, 44, a transient, was found by police about 45 minutes later, with the help of Redondo residents who tipped officers off to where he was located. He was arrested without incident and booked on suspicion of attempted murder.

Paramedics treated the victim at the scene, then transported him to a hospital where he underwent surgery for several stab wounds to the torso. He is in stable condition and recovering in intensive care. The victim’s name and residence are not being released.

Police are reviewing video surveillance from the BCT bus, as well as South Bay Galleria surveillance footage. RBPD requests that anyone with information regarding the incident call their tip line at (310) 937-6685, text 310-339-2362, or email crimetips@redondo.org.
