A Los Angeles man could face life in prison after a Torrance judge found him guilty Monday of violently robbing a Manhattan Beach cigar shop last August.

Tyler Lee Rodgers, 19, was found guilty of attempted murder, robbery, kidnapping and burglary. He was also convicted of breaking into a Torrance house after DNA evidence linked him to the burglary.

On August 16, 2012, Rodgers entered Cigar and Smoke Shop on Artesia Boulevard carrying a long-barreled shotgun and demanded money from the store clerk. He then put the victim’s wrists in handcuffs and slit his throat before fleeing with a silver cashbox worth $240. He was arrested in the following week and held on $1 million bail.
