Ring app

Manhattan Beach Police Department announced a new partnership with the home security system Ring by joining the Neighbors app network. Residents can download the free Neighbors app to monitor neighborhood activity, receive real-time safety alerts from their neighbors, MBPD and the Ring team. According to MBPD, police will not have the ability to access any Ring device, know a device’s location and we will not receive any account information of Ring users.”The Neighbor’s app has millions of users and has been instrumental in catching package thieves, stopping burglaries and keeping neighborhoods safe,” MBPD said. “Please download the app and help keep Manhattan Beach safe!”

Bruce’s Beach thefts

According to MBPD reports, two vehicles were broken into near Bruce’s Beach between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. on Jan. 12. Cell phones, keys, wallets, and credit cards were stolen from each vehicle. In both cases, the vehicles were broken into through the use of keys hidden somewhere on the vehicle. The same type of crime has long been endemic in surfer’s parking lots at El Porto and near the pier.

Car theft

A Mercedes Benz GLA was reported stolen early on the morning of Jan. 14 from the 200 block of 34th Street, according to MBPD reports.
