
After claiming the Bay League championship outright, Mira Costa’s girls water polo team entered the CIF-Southern Section Division 3 playoffs as the division’s third-seeded team behind Arroyo Grande and ML King.
Mira Costa (17-13) opens the postseason Wednesday hosting wild-card winner Righetti (22-6). The victor advances to the quarterfinals where it will face the La Serna-La Habra winner on Saturday. All games are scheduled for 5 p.m. unless a new time is mutually agreed upon.
Semifinal contests take place Wednesday, Feb. 24 followed by the finals on Saturday, Feb. 27.
Mira Costa captured the Bay League crown with a 7-4 win at Redondo.

Kate Nitzberg has been stellar in goal for the Mustangs and Kaylee Brownsberger scored a team-high four goals and Aminadi Anorve added three goals in the victory over rival Redondo.
Redondo (19-8) finished No. 6 in Division 3 and hosts Notre Dame/Sherman Oaks (22-6) in the first round. The winner will likely take on top-seeded Arroyo Grande on Saturday.
Peninsula (16-12) finished third in the Bay League and is ranked No. 8. The Panthers travel to Harvard-Westlake for their first-round contest.
In Division 6, El Segundo (15-13) defeated Elsinore 11-6 in a wild-card game on Tuesday and will play at third-seeded Westridge (20-5) in the first round on Thursday.
