Friends of the Parks and the Hermosa Beach Firefighters Association teamed up to host the 6th annual Movie in the Park at Valley Park Saturday evening.
Children climbed in and out of the fire truck, participated in three bouts of tug-of-war (firefighters won one, kids won two) and, along with their families, listened to live music before The Smurfs was played on the movie screen at dusk.
“It’s always a great event for kids and families,” said Jeff Fraley of Friends of the Park.
This was the first year the Friends of the Parks partnered with the firefighters association, and donations made at the event will be split between the two non-profit organizations.
Sponsors of the event included Paisanos Pizza, Buona Vita Trattoria, the city of Hermosa Beach, Silvio’s Brazilian Barbeque, Big 5 Sporting Goods and Starfish Creative Learning Center.
