Spotlight on the hill – Painted Goat Parade

Inspired by the goats used to clear brush on the hillsides of the Palos Verdes Peninsula, the Affinity Group hosted a unique fundraiser at the home of Dr. Michele and Paula Del Vicario. De De Hicks, the retired executive director for the Volunteer Center and current president of the Affinity Group, helped spearhead this project where artists paint ceramic goats that are then they are bid upon during a spirited  “adopt a goat” auction. Some of the artist’s included Jennifer Siegal, David Wolfram and Don Crocker. The funds raised went to support the Volunteer Center’s Operation Teddy Bear program, which provides teddy bears and literacy school bags for underprivileged kids and has been doing so since 1994. Last year alone, the program funded 4,000 supply-filled school backpacks.
