Uninvited guest
Manhattan Beach Police Department dispatch received multiple calls around 2:30 p.m. on Sep. 8 regarding a suspicious person who was seen going into several houses that did not belong to him and then inviting a woman to join him inside the house. Officers later located the man, who was sitting in a chair on the front porch of a residence on the 1400 block of 11th Street. When the officers attempted to detain him, he became combative. Following the investigation, the subject was arrested for burglary.
Stolen puppy
According to police reports, a woman put her 3-month-old puppy pug in an enclosed patio on Cayman Court in Manhattan Village on Sept. 3. A short time later, she noticed it was gone. The victim reviewed the surveillance footage and saw the puppy being taken by an unknown suspect between 7:15 to 7:30 a.m.
Pirated discs
An officer initiated a traffic stop at 3:25 a.m. on Sep. 6 on the 1500 block of Highland Avenue. Upon approaching the vehicle, the officer could smell a strong odor of marijuana. A search of the vehicle revealed 1,957 pirated compact discs and 70 pirated DVDs. The driver was arrested for the marijuana and pirated items.
Drug paraphernalia
An officer initiated a traffic stop on the 1100 block of Marine Avenue around 11:30 p.m. on Sep. 8. Upon further investigation, the officer found methamphetamine and narcotics paraphernalia. Both occupants of the car were arrested.
Crime on the soccer field
Police say a man left a gym bag full of personal items on the Marine Park soccer field while he played on Aug. 27. Upon returning to the bag, he discovered his wallet and cellphone were stolen.
Civic Center burglary
According to MBPD reports, a man locked and secured his vehicle in the underground Civic Center parking structure on Sep. 5 between 6 and 9 a.m. He then placed his keys in the wheel well of the vehicle, and later returned to find his vehicle ransacked and miscellaneous items stolen from inside the vehicle.
Stolen jewelry
A woman reported jewelry was stolen from her master bathroom on Aug. 29 or 30, according to police reports. The victim told police she believes that movers who were in the house on the 2100 block of Palm Avenue earlier in the day stole the jewelry.
Backpack stolen
According to police reports, a man placed a backpack outside of the garage around 2:30 p.m. on Aug. 12 and went inside the house on the 2300 block of Palm Avenue. When he returned outside an hour and a half later, he saw the backpack and its contents were stolen. ER
