League of Women Voters
Candidate Forum
The League of Women Voters, in association with Easy Reader, will hold a candidates forum at the Redondo Beach Public Library on Wednesday, Feb. 13, from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
Candidates who have confirmed to participate include District 3 City Council incumbent Christian Horvath and challenger Candace Nafissi; District 5 City Council incumbent Laura Emdee and challenger Mel Samples; and City Treasurer incumbent Steve Diels and challenger Eugene Solomon.
The event comes after an earlier attempt at an LWV forum fell through. Nafissi, Samples, and Solomon declined participation at that forum, which included sponsorship from the North Redondo Beach Business Association and the Redondo Beach Chamber of Commerce.
“The League initially was contacted by residents concerned that the community was not going to have an opportunity to hear the candidates,” said League of Women Voters representative Barbara Arlow. “The same folks contacted us again saying that they are pleased Redondo Beach will have a candidate forum and are looking forward to attending on Feb. 13.”
