Run for a cause

Sponsor a child with cancer at the annual “Champions Run for Life” Torch Run, an Olympic-style relay race filled with uplifting moments as patient “champions” carry a torch — a symbol of hope for a cure — as they walk, run, wheel or are carried through a one-eighth mile celebratory lap. PV Street Fair

The largest event on the Palos Verdes Peninsula, the Palos Verdes Street Fair & Music Festival attracts over 30,000 visitors from across the LA Metro area. RB Triathlon

The Sprint event involves a 1/2 mile ocean swim, 6 mile bike and 2 mile scenic run while the Mini Sprint, a non-competitive race for friends, families and kids 10 and older, will entail a 1/4 mile ocean swim, 3 mile bike and 1 mile scenic run. Commemorative awards go to the top 3 in each division and top 2 relays in each division. Race begins at 7:30 a.m. Veteran’s Park, 309 Esplanade, Redondo Beach. Walk with roses

View the glorious, redesigned Rose Garden at the South Coast Botanic Garden. Meet in classroom B for an overview of the newly planted garden and how it came to be with speaker Tanya Finney, Superintendent of the South Coast Botanic Garden. Then take a guided walking tour led by Rosarian, Gloria Leinbach. Door prize, a plant raffle, tasty refreshments and friendly faces. Free and open to the public.
