The much anticipated, Manhattan Beach library celebrated its grand opening this month. The two-story, 21,000 sq. ft., $26.3 million project features a view to rival a home on The Strand. Amenities include an adult reading area with a fireplace, an interactive children’s area and the first automatic book-sorting machine in the county. Every Tuesday morning from May 12 to June 6, the library hosts “Toddler Storytime” for the little humans and their caregivers and will include songs, movement and other engaging activities. Registration is required. For teens, CD Recycle art is June 17 at 4 p.m. Sheet Music Decoupage on July 10 at 3 p.m. and PSAT Strategies Session on July 29 at 6:30 p.m.

Hermosa Beach
The Hermosa Beach library spring reading sessions for toddlers and preschoolers continue through May, on Wednesday and Fridays respectively. All are invited to kick off the summer reading program on June 26 at 3 p.m. with Buster Balloon and learn all about the program amid balloons and laughter. Children of all ages are welcome.

If you’re looking for books for keeps, or to donate, don’t miss the Hermosa Beach Friends of the Library’s monthly book sale — May 16 and June 20 from 9 a.m. to noon — at Bard Street Bookstore, just around the corner from the library. Donations are accepted at the library during regular business hours or at the Bard Street facility most Monday mornings.
