Blood Drive
The Hermosa Beach Kiwanis is hosting a blood drive this Sunday. The American Red Cross drive will run from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Kiwanis Hall, 2515 Valley Drive. To make an appointment go to the Red Cross website and enter the promo code “HermosaKiwanis” or email mickmacr@aol.com.
Promotions from the Red Cross will be available for donors. All those wishing to donate must bring a photo ID.
Board Short Mile
Swimmers can raise funds to support athletes with physical disabilities this weekend by participating in the annual “Board Short Mile.” The swim begins Saturday at 10 a.m. on the south side of the Hermosa Pier. Swimmers will receive identical board shorts to wear during the swim, and can keep them after it concludes. $70. Proceeds support the Challenged Athletes Foundation. The event will conclude with a silent auction, featuring a surfboard donated by ET Surf. Surf forecasts for this weekend call for chest-to-head-high waves Saturday, and strong south-to-north currents.
