Conditions cooperated and competitors took full advantage of the opportunity at the Feb. 23 Dive N’ Surf/South Bay Boardriders Club contest at 45th street in Manhattan Beach.
Pro surfer Dane Zaun was so dominant in a loaded men’s finals that the judges didn’t even need to total the scores to know he had won. Zaun also won the Electric Sunglasses Move of the Day award for an air-reverse-360.
Earlier in the day judges awarded a perfect 10 to longboarder Dave Schaefer for a helicopter he performed, followed up by a shore-pound barrel. Schaefer won the longboard division for both the Dive N’ Surf and ET contests. The ET finals were held prior to the start of the Dive N’ Surf contest because last month’s ET contest was fogged out before the finals could be held.
