Two stabbed on Hermosa Beach plaza during fight [UPDATE]

Two men were stabbed during a fight on the plaza late Sunday night. They are both in stable condition, police said on Tuesday.

As many as ten people were involved in the fight that happened at about 11:40 p.m. outside American Junkie bar, said HBPD Det. Mick Gaglia in a press release.

One of the suspects, Dimetrick Richmond, 26, of Whittier, was arrested several blocks away following the incident, Gaglia said.

Richmond was charged with attempted murder in connection with the stabbings and is being held on $1 million bail, Gaglia said.

Police are still looking for other suspects involved in the fracus.

Both victims were treated at the scene by the Hermosa Beach Fire Department paramedics and driven to a local hospital. One was stabbed in the back and the other suffered a deep wound to the stomach with an unknown object, Gaglia said.

An original report from the authorities said the verbal argument began inside Sharkeez bar, but police now believe the incident began on the plaza, Gaglia said, adding that racial slurs appear to have begun the melee.
