Police Beat in Manhattan Beach

ID theft arrest

A Hawthorne man was arrested on July 9 under suspicion of stealing wallets and cellphones from surfers’ cars over the period from November 30 through March  21. Police said that Jordan Paris Adams, 21, used keys hidden outside the cars to access their interiors. He spent over $150,000 at local ATMs, Target, Best Buy and Macy’s, plus over $40,000 in declined charges.

Police obtained a warrant for 12 felony counts of ID theft and possessing credit card numbers on May 28. They arrested Adams on July 9 as he was coming out of a house in Hawthorne. They searched the house and his car, where they found more evidence. Bail was set at $300,000.
