Hermosa Surf Camp

For 25 years, the Hermosa Surf Camp, sponsored by Spyder Surf, Hurley, and Kinecta Federal Credit Union has taught students under the helm of director Vince Ray.
“I guaranteed our students will ride a wave their first day,” Ray said. Classes have a 1:6 or better teacher to student ratio. All students receive a T-shirt, Lycra surf shirt, Spyder Swag bag and three photos. Monday through Friday at 10th St. next to the Hermosa Beach Pier with one hour and a half or three-hour sessions.There is always an L.A. County Lifeguard, and California credentialed teacher on duty. Advanced Surfing Lessons by Jamie Meistrell

Professional surfer Jamie Meistrell draws from his worldwide surf travels, 12 years as a professional surfer, and over 20 years of competing to help surfer’s reach their goals. Freedom Surf Camp

Friendship Circle Surf Camp

The Hermosa Beach Friendship Circle Surf Camp

The Hermosa BeachFriendship Circle Surf Camp shares the stoke with special needs children and adults, ages 7 and up. Surf classes have a 2:1 or more teacher-to-student ratio for safety and a lot of one-on-one attention. BZ soft surfboards provided. PV Surf Camp

Since 2002, director Leith Emery, an avid surfer, and a Palos Verdes High School teacher has brought his strong desire and dedication to helping kids learn and grow. PV Surf Camp instructors are CPR trained and teach a curriculum that emphasizes ocean safety, surf technique, surfing etiquette and an appreciation for the power and beauty of the ocean. Weekly class sessions are offered for kids ages 6-15 in a 4-1 instructor to student ratio.

Don’t Just Surf

Owner Dave Schaefer is a locally born waterman who lives by his creed of “Don’t Just Surf” with instruction in stand-up paddling, fishing, sailing and kiteboarding, addition to surfing. Learn to Surf LA

With locations in Manhattan Beach, Santa Monica, and Venice Learn to Surf LA is a great way for kids to spend the day playing and relaxing while learning to handle themselves in the surf. Learn to Surf LA provides snacks, drinking water, and sunblock and have pop-up canopies to provide shade and protect students from over-exposure to the sun. Campsurf is “Los Angeles’ Premier Surf School”, according to the LA Business Journal, offering surf instruction in Manhattan Beach for all ages and abilities. BeachSports

BeachSports Surf & Beach Camps is celebrating its 21st year. BeachSports was created by LA County Lifeguards to provide beach and ocean safety education. Beach Sports programs start at age 4 and include instruction in surfing, boogie boarding, beach volleyball and Junior Lifeguard skills. BeachSports offers four camps: Surf Camp, Beach Camp, Beach Volleyball Camp, and Junior Lifeguard Ocean Safety Program. City of Manhattan Beach Sand Volleyball and Surf Camp

Manhattan Beach Parks and Recs offers volleyball and surf camp on the south side of the Manhattan Beach Pier. Starting on the week of June 20th, the camp will run daily from 9 a.m. to 1:30 pm. Beach Volleyball Camp will run from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. (310) 802-5448. Citymb.info/registration.

City of Torrance Surf Camp

Did you know Torrance Beach was a filming location fo the TV show, Batman in 1966? After Joker steals the local star surfer’s abilities, he challenges Batman to a surf off at “Gotham Point.” Learn to surf where Batman surfed. 5-1 student instructor ratio. Beginners learn the basics and etiquette while immediate students learn advancement by CPR and first Aid certified instructors. Wetsuit and boards provided. Camp starts June 26. Weekly classes are three days, Monday, Wednesday, Friday, with sessions from 8:30 am to 10 am and 10:30 a.m. to noon.

Champ Camp

Voted “Best Kids Camp,” in Easy Reader’s “Best of the Beach 2016” reader’s poll, Champ Camp guarantees your kids will be outside moving and enjoying the beach. With an open-ended approach built on a variety of activities, the kids decide on the itinerary for the day. “Anything to get the kids moving around and excited about being outside. We put the ball in their court,” said director Trevor Elder, a South Bay native certified lifeguard, and EMT. Founded by Elder in 2012, Champ Camp staffs about 15 first-aid and CPR-certified college grads.
“The common denominator is that we’re all big kids at heart and passionate about the kids,” Elder said. Full day sessions 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Half day sessions 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
