Palmilla preview
A sneak peek at the upscale, contemporary Mexcian restuarant Palmilla Cocina y Tequila on the Pier Plaza will be available when Hermosa Beach Young Professionals host a fundraiser for Hermosa Beach Sister Cities Association and Loreto, Mexico, before the eatery’s official opening.
The event is 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 1; entry is $10 with RSVP to info@hbyoungprofessionals.com or $15 at the door, which includes tapas and a drink.
Store uncorks
Uncorked, The Wine Shop opens for business Saturday at 302 Pier Ave., followed by a ribbon-cutting ceremony with the Hermosa Beach Chamber of Commerce & Visitors Bureau 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 26.
The retail shop will feature wine and beer tasting, opening with more than 170 wines and 25 craft beers as well as specialty food items, wine accessories and custom gift baskets for wine and beer lovers.
During tastings, customers can nosh on cheese samplers, charcuterie, dark chocolate, desert bites and snacks.
To make the wine buying process less intimidating and more customer-friendly, Uncorked will feature cards on each wine with information about the varietal and the vineyard.
The store is owned by local residents Kathleen Knoll and Gerry Athas-Vazquez.
